Vet Select is under the Vet Options pet insurance. The company believes that straightforward and easy to understand policies are essential when selecting pet insurance for your fur babies.
Vet Options created two policies for both dogs and cats. The Vet Basic is the first policy which includes specific accidental injuries and illnesses. With the Vet Basic, your pet has an annual limit of $6,000 worth of treatments of particular injuries and illnesses. The reimbursement rate for the policy is 90% worth of eligible vet bills. However, once your pet reaches its eighth birthday, your reimbursement rate reduces to 65%.
Your pet also has an annual emergency boarding limit of $1,000 whenever you get hospitalized, and no one is going to take care of your pet.
For the Vet Select policy, your pet gets an annual benefit worth $25,000 max with a reimbursement rate of up to 100% worth of eligible vet bills. The inclusions of the policy are accidental injuries, illnesses, annual emergency boarding, surgeries, hospitalization, medicines and drugs, behavioural and anxiety treatments, alternative therapy, and dental illness treatment.
The Vet Basic has a waiting period of 30 days for the illnesses while injuries are covered the next day after the approval of the purchase. Meanwhile, the Vet Select policy has a 20-day waiting period for diseases, behavioural conditions, and alternative therapies. It also has a 6-month waiting period for dental illnesses and cruciate ligament injuries.
What we like about the policies offered by Vet Select, under Vet Options, is the simplicity and the straightforward inclusions. Since there are only two covers for the insurance plan, it is easier for you to understand the coverage and the exclusions, as well.
With the Vet Select policy, you will notice that some more illnesses and injuries are covered in comparison to the Vet Basic. In other insurance policies, treatments like behavioural therapy and prescription diets are not part of their inclusions. However, in the Vet Select, you can avail those benefits.
Waiting periods for the Vet Select is also shorter than other insurance plans. Most treatments that are part of the inclusions have 20 days waiting period. Also, for medications that need extensive procedures, the waiting period is only six months.
For the comprehensive cover, called the Vet Select, you will notice that there is a high annual limit of up to $25,000. With that upper yearly limit, you can file for many claims. There is also no excess charge for all claim requests. Also, you can have a refund of up to 100% of all your vet bills. With the high reimbursement rate, you can have every penny that you spent.
However, if your pet turns eight, your reimbursement rate reduces to 65% from either 90% or 100%. But your pet is still insured with the Lifetime cover as long as you continue to renew your policy.
